I’ve had Rebecca’s birthday present finished for a while and managed to not give it to her till her birthday. I think it’s just the most adorable red riding hood cloak and dress that’s ever been made, but that’s just me.
It has a full underskirt and the over skirt is gathered up and has ribbon down the gathers. It was an idea I had one night and in the morning I made it. I also made bloomers to match the underskirt with a ruffle around the bottom to match the overskirt.
Little red riding hood was my favorite story when I was little and I had the story we had at the time memorized. Somewhere we also have a tape where I recorded the story. I was probably only about seven at the time.
The cloak was really easy to make and I added decorative stitches around the hood. The cloak is made using an adult circle skirt pattern. Only using half a circle (1/4 circle cut on fold) and the hood I cut out to look like this
Then, sew the curved edges together and hem the vertical edge. The other straight edge is sewn to the neckline. I gathered the neckline to fit the bottom of the hood. After that just hem the cloak and attach ties to the neckline. I made the ties by making strips of fabric about 1 1/2 in. wide and folding the edges in 1/4 inch and then in half and stitching.
On ravelry.com a knitting and crochet site, Laura found out about a mystery knit along (MKAL) which is where you join other knitters to make a project that you don’t know what it is. We knew it would be a stuffed animal. So we the other day we finished it and this is what it turned out to be.
I have all the pictures and my notes on ravelry here http://www.ravelry.com/projects/EKatherineA/rats
If I had known it would be a mouse before starting I would not have made it. But it actually do like it, which is weird because I hate all mice and rats except for Reepicheep. Laura named hers Reepicheep so I can’t call mine that. There is a link to her mouse from my page, but I think you have to be logged in to see it so I’ll put pics here
I also made two bunnies and I’m working on a third. You can see them here http://www.ravelry.com/projects/EKatherineA/henrys-bunny
And a bluebird for Hannah. No pics yet though :( Sarah, Hannah and I are going to music workshop again tomorrow. Here is the link to the post about last years https://southernbellsewing.wordpress.com/2013/07/20/music-workshop/
Also we went to the beach again this morning and Sarah took the pictures with hers and Ma’s new camera.
